Global Marine Systems

The situation

Global Marine Systems, a recent spinoff from Global Crossing was in a period of transition following the departure of key marketing and communications staff. The company had an expensive PR agency that was without direction and a website that needed extensive revision and a new content management system that would be compatible with the company’s new marketing messages. As a smaller startup, they needed to keep cost under control and adding new senior full time employees (particularly in the UK) was cost prohibitive.

The solution

HGI assembled a team of marcom professionals who could virtually manage various vendors and marshal in-house resources to solve problems and the garner desired results. HGI was able also able to help stabilize the budget by providing senior people without adding to headcount, a significant cost for businesses in the UK.

The results

The company was able to stabilize and re-focus their PR programs, and take back control of its website in two months, for less than the cost of hiring a mid-level marketing communications professional. The existing website was re-assembled from the inside and a new content management system was installed that allowed for easy updating. On the PR front, the virtual marketing team was able work with the PR agency to proactively reach out to media following the significant Internet outage in the middle east and garnered press in the Economist, the Financial Times, etc.
